City of Stamford Celebrates Groundbreaking for the New Westhill High School

The City of Stamford, Stamford Public Schools, and community leaders gathered on the Westhill High School campus on a warm and sunny afternoon, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Westhill High School. The event marked a major milestone in the City’s continued investment in modern, sustainable educational facilities for Stamford students and families.

The ceremony featured remarks from Mayor Caroline Simmons, Superintendent Tamu Lucero, Connecticut Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, and Connecticut Department of Administrative Services Deputy Commissioner Eleanor Michael, among others. A highlight of the event was participation from Roxbury Elementary School Student Ambassadors, many of whom are expected to be among the first students to attend the new Westhill High School upon its completion in 2029.  A ceremonial “first dig” commemorated the beginning of construction on the new school.
